The EBS 60 Second Interview – Solomon Akpewrene
Solomon Akpewrene is a Litigation and Disputes Resolution Lawyer with experience in commercial and residential property over two decades. He has an L.L.M (with distinction) in Advanced Legal Practice. Currently on a career break, he now manages his own portfolio of investments including residential properties and is focussing on complex land transactions involving high risk but great rewards.
Solomon is passionate about languages and originally read Russian and French at Leeds University and later sat various London Chamber of Commerce Examinations in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. He also enjoys long walks, listening to all types of music (especially Jazz Funk ) and travelling.

Since August 2011
Did you have any expectations before you came?
Yes. I expected to see individuals strutting their stuff in red jackets and black trousers
Were your expectations fulfilled?
On the contrary. People were quiet informal.
What surprised you most about EBS?
The warmth of the members and their unequivocal commitment to assisting others.
What has been your greatest learning as Toastmaster?
Learning to make the most of one’s environment.
What is special about EBS?
It must be the members and the venue, Freemasons Hall.
What do you like best about coming to our club?
There is always something new to learn and its never too late (or too early) to do so!
What do your friends and family say about you since you joined?
How has becoming a member of EBS affected you/your life?
It has enabled me to set higher goals for myself
What was your biggest fear before you came?
My natural reticence.
Is that still your biggest fear?
No. Its the fear of success.
How does public speaking impact your life
It has increased my confidence. Action cures fear.
Is there anything else you would rather be doing on a Thursday morning?
No. Apart from calling someone before the EBS meeting to tell them that I can’t talk right now!
