What brought you to EBS?
I was inspired by TED talks and thought ‘I’d love to do that!’. One of my friends challenged me to join Toastmasters and the rest is history.
Was it everything you expected?
I didn’t know what to expect, but I loved how efficiently everything was organised at EBS. I found the speakers inspiring and everyone was so welcoming.
How long have you been a Member?
I have been a member for almost 2 years.
Did you have any expectations before you came?
No, I was just curious to see what it was all about.
Were your expectations fulfilled?
Yes, and then some!
What surprised you most about EBS?
I have such a good time at EBS that I am happy to forgo sleep!
What has been your greatest learning as a Toastmaster?
That storytelling is the key for great speeches and for connecting with an audience.
What is special about EBS?
It’s a lovely group of people, from a variety of backgrounds and all ages. It really feels like a family.
What do you like best about coming to our Club?
When I hear speeches that move me, teach me something new or that make me laugh. I also love going to the breakfast where I can connect with all the members and guests.
What do your friends and family say about you since you joined?
‘You do this for fun?!’ So many people find the thought of public speaking scary – but it’s also a great challenge to overcome this.
How has becoming a member of EBS affected you/ your life?
I’ve met and become friends with some wonderful people. It’s a great environment for learning.
What was your biggest fear before you came?
That I would mess up in front of a large crowd.
Is that still your biggest fear?
No. The world does not end and the audience is on your side!
How does public speaking impact your life?
It brings me new opportunities, the chance to express myself and make a difference to people.
